It’s been a hopeless situation for Drew McIntyre for the better part of 2023 despite him being one of the top talents on the WWE Raw roster. He’s not won a championship since late 2020 and that situation may not change, anytime soon. The tug-of-war between him and WWE may just continue to unravel amid a contract dispute situation that still sticks.
According to insider source BWE, Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is set to expire soon. There’s no positive update available on whether the WWE Raw Superstar will sign a new deal with the company. He did return from a hiatus at Money in the Bank in the United Kingdom but that didn’t mean that his contract was extended by then.
Superstar Spectacle 2023: Spoiler On Former World Championship’s Return At WWE India Event
PWInsider had reported earlier this year that his contract would expire in early 2024 and perhaps that tenure is accurate and this could be his last tenure on WWE Raw. Speaking to TMZ Sports a bit ago, the former WWE Champion stated the following about rumors of him being unhappy in WWE which could pave the way for a departure in the near future,
“It was cool, getting the break. There were a lot of rumors and headlines on the internet when I was out, probably like 50 different things. It was amazing all the stories about me out there.
When you’re not on TV, people talk, and you know, there might have been some smoke to some fire with a few of them, but it was nice. People were talking about me when I wasn’t there, but I did have to get some things fixed physically.”

WWE Raw: Heel turn being teased for Drew McIntyre for sometimes
On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, McIntyre said that he’d deal with Cody Rhodes if Jey Uso causes any problems on the red brand. This was said because Rhodes used his connections to bring Uso on Monday nights from Friday nights.
With that, WWE seems to have planted the seeds for McIntyre on WWE Raw for a heel turn in the future, but his future with the company is up in the air and the creative direction is yet to be decided. For the time being, he remains involved in a Tag Team with Matt Riddle while the teases for a heel turn are being given since his loss to GUNTHER at SummerSlam.
