ToggleWe haven’t spotted WWE Hall of Famer Edge on WWE Raw for almost four months now which led the fans to speculate about his current status with the company. He was last seen on TV at the Extreme Rules premium live event on October 8, 2022, losing to Finn Balor in an ‘I Quit’ match.
With his wife and also WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix getting involved and attacking in that match, The Rated R Superstar was removed from future WWE Raw appearances. The general belief is that the feud against The Judgment Day will continue to unfold whenever he returns onboard but at the same time his WWE contract could also be reportedly up.

Update on Edge’s contract with the WWE
Sean Sapp provided an update on Edge’s current contract status from behind Fightful’s paywall. While making his return to the WWE in 2020, the multi-time world champion signed a three-year contract with the company. The report adds that Edge is currently working limited dates with WWE which explains the ongoing hiatus from WWE Raw,
“WWE sources confirmed that Edge is on a deal with limited dates, which is why he has appeared periodically since splitting him from the Judgment day feud. One WWE higher-up said that the vignettes this past summer were a way to “buy some weeks” on television before Edge’s return, and give them a little more time in order to build to some important matches throughout the rest of the year, which happened with the Balor and Priest matchups.”

Edge only contracted to make limited WWE Raw/Smackdown appearances
Initially, Edge’s contract had him working only five matches a year, in addition to twenty-five TV appearances on weekly episodes of WWE Raw/Smackdown. However, Fightful noted that in the past two years, he has worked ten and seven matches, respectively. It’s not confirmed if the primary contract had since been changed, or if the original contract details were not accurate.
Fightful was unable to confirm how many dates were left on Edge’s contract with the WWE, or when it’d exactly expire. If earlier reports on the deal were correct, then he should become a free agent in January of 2023 since he made his WWE return in the same month, three years ago.
Edge not far away from announcing retirement
Back in August, Edge already teased a permanent retirement from in-ring competition, noting that 2023 would be his final year for him in pro wrestling. It was also added that he plans to retire in his hometown of Toronto. The announcement came in the same city after he defeated Damian Priest in a singles outing on WWE Raw. It remains to be seen if the Rated R Superstar finds his way back to the WWE in time for the 2023 Royal Rumble premium live event.
