The post-Wrestlemania 39 episode of WWE Smackdown was delivered this week and the big news coming out of the show was WWE Draft announcement. The shakeup process for the WWE roster was confirmed by the Chief Content Officer Triple H as the fallouts after the Show of Shows were addressed.

As the builds for the post-Wrestlemania 39 season continue, WWE Smackdown didn’t have one particular top superstar onboard. While the reason for his absence is unclear at this moment, Drew McIntyre’s appearance on the show was canceled, causing a change to the earlier plans.

PWInsider reports behind their paywall that Drew McIntyre was pulled from this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown that took place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. This happened despite WWE having him advertised for the show for a long time. There’s no update on whether the future expiry of his WWE deal has played a factor in this non-appearance.

Drew McIntyre missed another event around WWE Smackdown

According to the report, Drew McIntyre was scheduled to appear on the April 8 episode of WWE SmackDown, but she was later removed from the lineup. In addition, McIntyre was also scheduled to appear in a local autograph signing event at a Cricket Wireless store in the area, but that was also canceled. GUNTHER replaced McIntyre’s place as a substitute for the Cricket Wireless store signing.

As noted above, no particular reason behind this absence is known but According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, the WWE Smackdown star could be dealing with a health issue and he probably didn’t tweet since Sunday night due to this. The situation was said to be in a monitored stage. This could be a major blow for the WWE as he’s a top star in the company.

GUNTHER retained his Intercontinental Title over McIntyre and Sheamus on WrestleMania Sunday. In that match, McIntyre was pinned which made the fans believe that he could probably be heading into a WWE departure once the current deal expires this summer. An absence from WWE Smackdown, this week added further fuel to it. We’ll have to wait and see how things around the former WWE Champion would be handled in due course.
