Vince McMahon has literally handed WWE Raw for three consecutive weeks to WWE’s prodigal son out of generosity despite his son’s loss against the Undertaker. Shane McMahon was able to run WWE Raw even in the overseas this past week that was hosted live from the O2 arena in London, England. Shane has done incredible jobs for these past three weeks. It will not be wrong to say that he is the sole reason that WWE Raw ratings have not fallen down since the biggest pay-per-view of the year, Wrestlemania.
Let’s be honest here, Shane is not given with the who’s who of the company since Mania season is over. He is with a bunch of fresh talents and still he managed to tick all the checkboxes that Vince wants to see for the flagship program of the company. A couple of recent suspensions (Adam Rose, Konnor) and Bray Wyatt’s injury may have been an issue with the roster but Shane did manage to overcome all of that.
This week’s WWE Raw was not the best one but certainly was not a bad one, too. Things kicked off with Shane being present in the Ambrose Asylum talk show and make two blockbuster matches for Payback i.e. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose. The main event saw mugging between two bitter rivals Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens in front of the rowdy crowd of London.
Ambrose won the match via disqualification after Jericho hit him with a Codebreaker. After the cameras stopped rolling on WWE Raw, Jericho and Owens continued the two-on-one assault on Ambrose until AJ Styles came to rescue and an impromptu tag team match up was set up with the faces standing tall after the dark segment. Jericho demanded a handshake in respect after the segment but ended up eating Styles Clash and Dirty Deeds in the process.
