The romantic triangle featuring Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Chyna is one of the most infamous real-life stories in WWE history. The company was primarily famous in the old school days for its wild and non-PG storylines as well as provocative content. Creating romantic storylines for character development purposes was much random back in those days.
In professional wrestling, such scripted romantic moments can often turn into real-life affairs and the story of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s relationship is no exception. However, it came with bigger consequences.
Stephanie McMahon’s Departure Reportedly Brought WWE Morale Down
A wild theory ran in late 1999 that Triple H dating Stephanie was cheating on Chyna since he was still in a relationship with the former DX member. Chyna also later accused The Game of cheating on her with The Lady Boss, revealing that she found out about this newly bloomed romance after coming across a love note.
In an interview with Howard Stern in 2002, Triple H addressed those accusations made against him by Chyna and denied it with the following comments,
“There’s a misconception of the way that things ended with us, but it was our relationship had gone downhill. There’s a period of time where we were seperated and things happened in between and then you kind of partway get back together and it really wasn’t a full-blown relationship at that time. [Technically you weren’t cheating?] yeah, I don’t see things the same way she does.”

After dating for a few years, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon got married in 2003 and they have been together ever since. Prior to that, the Cerebral Assassin of the WWE was with Chyna from 1996 to 2000 and during that time the former Women’s Champion was a prominent wrestler in the WWE.
Apparently, Chyna and Stephanie weren’t on good terms before the latter moved ahead to be with Triple H. This affair was started in 2003 as The king of Kings had a real-life crush on her during the beginnings of their onscreen relationship, as revealed by Stephanie, herself revealed during an interview with Howard Stern. Eventually, the new couple went on to become the power couple of the WWE while Chyna was released from the contract.
