Triple H has had enjoyed many monumental moments during his in-ring career to cement his legacy as an all-time great. Over the past few years, he occasionally stepped into the ring when WWE needed and thus fans received an added reason to tune into the programming. However, that legend won’t be seen in action, anymore.
Last night, Triple H shocked the entire pro-wrestling community with his abrupt departure from the ring. In an interview with ESPN First Take’s Stephen A. Smith, the founder of the Degeneration X announced his retirement from pro-wrestling. Afterward, WWE also issued an official statement to bid adieu from the squared circle.
Triple H Is Heavily Enjoying His Break From WWE Programming
Triple H confirmed that he is never going to wrestle again after being diagnosed with a defibrillator in his chest which keeps him vulnerable for any further damage. Back in September of 2021, the veteran caught viral pneumonia that caused inflammation in his lungs.
Things went worse for him as he began coughing blood, forcing him to go see a doctor. He was informed to have fluid in his lungs and around his heart. He was also told to immediately go to an emergency room after the results came out which was mentioned as heart failure during the interview.

Triple H wants to be a responsible family man
Triple H added that he was “nosediving and sort of at the one-yard line of where you want to be for your family and your future.” He and Stephanie McMahon have three kids and they won’t certainly want their dad to be sick at home after getting physical in the ring. Considering all the family responsibilities, he chose the decision of retirement.
Without a doubt, Triple H remains a decorated wrestler who also handpicked fresh talents with the NXT product. Since after the heart condition, he has done some WWE work over recent months. He toured the new WWE headquarters facilities in Stamford along with other executives in the fall. But as of this writing, he is yet to return to his daily corporate jobs.
The final match for Triple H took place on June 29, 2019, where he tagged with Shinsuke Nakamura in a win over Robert Roode and Samoa Joe at a non-televised WWE live event in Tokyo, Japan. His last televised full-length match was against Randy Orton at the Super ShowDown pay-per-view in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on June 7, 2019. Later, he and Orton featured in another TV match in January 2020 on Raw but that was rather a brawl that ended in a quick manner.
