At WrestleMania 39 Saturday on April 1, the dream team of Trish Stratus, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Lita & Becky Lynch defeated Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) in a 6-woman tag team match in a non-title capacity. It was a feel-good experience to see WWE Hall of Famers back in action at the grandest stage of them all.
Plus, this match had also marked Trish Stratus’ first WrestleMania match in 12 years. Prior to Wrestkkemania 39, she last competed at WrestleMania 27 in 2011. Interestingly, she was not fully fit heading into the match. At her age, it’s tough to keep herself ready for action but being a veteran, she eventually made it to the Show of Shows despite the obstacle.
“IMPACT Does Not Allow Us On Screen Together,” Ex WWE Superstar Reveals
Speaking on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio. Trish Stratus revealed that she competed at WrestleMania 39 with a partially torn hamstring. She had some doubts about delivering the best performance in that condition. But then in the spirit of performing at the grandest event of the year, she went through the test and got successful.
“I’d Like To See More Trish Stratus,” WWE Legend On The 2023 Female Roster
Trish Stratus went with the flows for Wrestlemania 39 performance
“This time, I had this injury, so I was a little unsure going in, but man, there’s something about feeling at home. It’s like riding a bike, as you guys know when we get back in there, your body’s like, ‘I got this just. Just do your thing,’ and it just flows. I’ve kept my health and fitness up, and that always plays into it as well. I am good in those moments, right?” Trish Stratus continued.
“I work well under pressure. I always feel like I have to prove myself every time I go out there, so that was like a big driving force for me that evening, was to go out and prove that I belong in this match, that I belong with these other talented women and that I still belong here, period.”
Trish Stratus turned heel after Wrestlemania 39
As seen on WWE programming, Trish Stratus was successful in competing in that match, and then she also continued to compete with Lynch in a women’s tag team title defense on the April 10 episode of Monday Night Raw. Ultimately, they lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
Following that match, Trish Stratus turned heel on Becky Lynch to prove the ongoing rumors true about a possible angle between the two superstars. Now that the heel turn has happened, a dream match between these two generational talents will eventually go down. Reports suggest that they might collide in a match at Summerslam.
