The post-Summerslam season kicked off for Smackdown Live with a bang. It was an out and out solid episode for the blue brand. Even the filler match between Naomi and Peyton Royce was a not-to-be-missed affair. The creative woven the storylines with intactness to win the hearts of the fans. Social media gave a thumb to this effort from the writers.

Smackdown opened with the two bitter rivals Daniel Bryan and The Miz. We thought that it would turn out to be a slugfest between these two set up a Hell in a Cell matchup. But the scenario changed with the arrival of Brie Bella. The crowd loved herself slapping the Miz’s face right after coming back. She will now give company to her husband in the mixed tag team action at Hell in a Cell.

The crowd also loved the segment where they saw an old version of Jeff Hardy. He took redemption on the Viper of the earlier weekly beatdowns on Smackdown. But that was not enough. He took us almost a decade ago by jumping off the top of a container box with the Swanton Bomb. We did miss this daredevil Hardy for a long time.

Rivalries just kept on growing personal on Smackdown in the title picture. Samoa Joe continued insulting AJ Styles by taking his wife’s name. We wonder how the current champion would overcome this mental battle that he’s dealing with for quite sometimes.

Also, Becky Lynch took the feud against Charlotte Flair to the next level by solidifying the heel turn. The entire Smackdown women’s division failed to separate these two hammering away at one other. This might be the first time ever that we have seen superstars separating two women from a fight.

Smackdown had a sweet end as The New Day picked up the win against The Bludgeon Brothers. It was literally a homecoming for them to win the tag titles in Brooklyn, New York. It was three years ago that they started their record-setting title reign in the WWE. Hopefully, last night marked another such run for them. Here are the Twitter reactions from last night’s episode,
