WWE Hall of Famer Edge is likely to be out from the WWE storyline for some time. Since after the monumental return at Royal Rumble 2020 from a career-ending neck injury, he’s working in a limited schedule for the WWE and that will continue as he leaves for another hiatus following what transpired following his match at the Madison Square Garden.
The Super SmackDown from MSG on September 10 witnessed Edge and Seth Rollins squaring off in a SummerSlam rematch. During the match, Rollins low-blowed his opponent then followed it up with several superkicks. He then finally connected with The Stomp to defeat the 11-time world champion.
Per the storyline, The Stomp is extremely harmful to Edge’s surgically repaired neck and hence he was then put on a stretcher and taken to a hospital. In an update to the situation, the stretcher angle was done to explain his absence around for a few months, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The legendary superstar isn’t really injured while the attack led to this kayfabe injury to make it look, legit.

Edge vs. Seth Rollins program to continue?
WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix announced during Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode that her husband, Edge was back at home. He was resting up with family following last week’s attack from Rollins. WWE also tweeted out Beth’s comments to play out that injury angle, but they have never issued a formal storyline injury update.
On a related note, Seth Rollins indicated on Smackdown that the feud against Edge might just continue once the latter returns. Rollins said he can’t move on until he finishes off The Master Manipulator. He also intended to finish him off in front of his family or have one more dance with him in the ring, teasing the third match of this ongoing rivalry. Extreme Rules could have been hosting the match but it could have been postponed.
While nothing is confirmed, this match could take place at Crown Jewel 2021 or Survivor Series 2021. It was also rumored earlier in the summer that Edge was set to move to, based on a WWE Shop listing that had him listed as a member of the red brand. To date, there’s no update on that move as we wait for the WWE Draft 2021 to begin in early October.
