The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament was a tribute paid to the legendary Owens Hart by All Elite Wrestling promotion. After the grand success of the tourney in the summer of 2022, it will find its way back to programming in 2023.
AEW President Tony Khan revealed the news during a recent AEW media call. He didn’t say the exact timeline of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament 2023 edition but he did confirm that it will be happening in 2023.
“I do plan to do the Owen Hart tournaments in 2023. I’d like to continue my great relationship with Dr. Martha Hart and her family. Oje Hart recently attended the Jaguars-Broncos game at Wembley Stadium. I really like Oje, he’s a tremendous guy, and Martha and the whole family, they’re great. We loved having them in AEW and the Owen Hart tournament tradition will continue,” Khan said. (quotes courtesy Wrestling Observer)

Legendary Chris Jericho was the bridge between Martha Hart and AEW through his friendship with the widow of Owen Hart due to which the 2022 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament came to a reality. It’s good to hear that it will eventually be back, allowing two superstars to earn championship match opportunities.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. was the one to win the women’s version of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament by defeating Ruby Soho in the final match that took place at Double or Nothing PPV in May.
Soho defeated Robyn Renegade in the qualifying round, Riho in the quarterfinals, and then Kris Statlander in the semifinal to get to the final. Regarding Baker, she defeated former WWE NXT star Danielle Kamela in the qualifying round, Maki Itoh in the quarterfinals, and then Toni Storm in the semifinals to get to the finals.
In the inaugural men’s version of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Adam Cole picked up the win. He defeated Dax Harwood in the first round, Jeff Hardy in the semifinals, and then Samoa Joe in the finals to be the winner. Interestingly, Cole and Baker were the real-life couples to emerge victorious and make history by winning the prestigious trophies related to Owen Hart.
