Shane McMahon often puts up daredevil acts on WWE programming which makes him a main-eventer guy in PLEs. This could be the reason why he was brought back into TV at Wrestlemania 39 to compete in a match against The Miz on the Night Two of the Show of Shows. But you never know what can happen in a pro wrestling ring and his match had to be cut short for an unfortunate reason.

As seen in that match, Shane McMahon barely performed a move but he still suffered an injury. He tore his quad during the surprise match at WrestleMania 39. Originally he was supposed to defeat The Miz, but while doing a leapfrog, his quad gave up causing an injury. Now, we have received an update on the situation.

PWInsider noted in their report that Shane McMahon was flown to Birmingham, Alabama, a night after suffering that injury. While there’s no official update on WWE’s part, it appears that he underwent surgery at the Andrew Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center, earlier this week. The total recovery time from this injury is yet to be disclosed.

Shane McMahon could miss a year due to a torn quad

But from past incidents, we can assume that an athlete undergoing a quad surgery might require a year or more to fully heal the wound depending on the extent of the injury and the athlete’s progress during the rehab process. With WWE providing high-class medical attention to their talents, they can expect to receive the best possible outcome and it’s safe to say that Shane McMahon would be okay with the assumed timespan.

In a similar instance, Vince McMahon tore both of his quads at the 2005 Royal Rumble while sliding into the ring. That infamous incident remains one of the strangest Royal Rumble finishes, ever. Also, that night, WWE crowned two Rumble winners due to which the match needed to restart.

Coming back to Wrestlemania 39, Shane McMahon’s injury forced the co-host of Wrestlemania 39, Snoop Dogg to handle some extra duties. He instantly had to pull off some impressive impromptu action with a People’s Elbow to pick up a pinfall win over The A-Lister, a move that was praised by WWE CCO Triple H.
