Big E has recently been inserted back on Smackdown, out of nowhere which reunited The New Day trio on Friday nights. New details are now available E’s move back to the blue brand, and how WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon feels about the faction, that’s often dubbed as the greatest of all-time in WWE history.
As seen in the last few weeks, Big E arrived from RAW on SmackDown in January to assist Kofi Kingston in the short feud against Happy Baron Corbin and Madcap Moss. Originally, this was supposed to be a temporary move since the third member of The New Day, King Xavier Woods is still out of action with a calf muscle injury. But then WWE officially announced that E is back on the blue brand, permanently.

In an update to the situation, Fightful Select noted that it was Vince McMahon who made the move of E getting back to Smackdown. He was also adamant on Kofi Kingston and Big E not getting billed as “The New Day,” and instead just being called “Big E and Kofi Kingston.” This was also how they were announced for E’s first week back on the brand.

WWE Chairman keen on keeping The New Day united
However, WWE’s social media crew wasn’t aware of the McMahon edict and they simply put out The New Day name on content over YouTube. However, things got changed as WWE is now billing them by their names but not by the faction, name anymore. The group name won’t likely be used until Woods joined the fray.
The 2021 King of the Ring winner has been out of action since suffering a muscle tear during the Street Fight against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos on the January 7 SmackDown. He was expected to be out of action for 4-6 weeks at that point in time. There’s no update available on whether he’s cleared to compete or not.
It was also noted by the source that McMahon emphasized at one point about putting The New Day back together as a trio since he “missed the magic that they created together.” However, it was McMahon who also preferred the group’s split up during the last two WWE Drafts. As a result, E ended up receiving a singles run but that has reportedly come to an end.
