This week’s WWE Raw witnessed Seth Rollins turning heel making the ongoing rumors true. The fans booed him a lot in recent that led to this character change.
Moving forward, the prime face of the Raw roster can show his disgust on the fans for turning on him, much earlier than he did on them. But he also committed something that made his boss furious over it.
Major announcements for Starrcade 2019
Seth Rollins was addressing the Chicago crowd on WWE Raw who was loud with the usual CM Punk chants. Most of the time, superstars ignore these and went forward to do what they are assigned with.
But this time, the former Universal Champion responded saying that he tried to bring CM Punk into the building. Instead, Punk just loves to sit behind a desk in Los Angeles and talk about change. (Referring to his role at WWE Backstage)
“I tried to get [Punk] here, I’m sorry,” Seth Rollins said, while the crowd chanted for Punk. “He didn’t wanna show up. He wants to sit behind a desk in Los Angeles and talk about a change that he’s too afraid to make himself.”
Apparently, CM Punk has not signed a deal with the WWE and there’s no confirmation whether he will be coming back to the company, ever again.
This is the reason why the comments made by Seth Rollins on WWE Raw was not taken well by the backstage officials.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon was reportedly furious that Seth Rollins mentioned CM Punk during the opening segment of WWE RAW. There’s a rule that you shouldn’t push an idea of a match if you can’t deliver on it.
In 2015, McMahon was upset over a Steve Austin Podcast episode with Paul Heyman where they teased a Stone Cold vs. Brock Lesnar match that was not in the works. The case is similar here where CM Punk just can’t make an abrupt return since there’s a lot of hurdles are left to conquer.
In recent times, Seth Rollins has called out CM Punk on multiple occasions on the social media platform. He wants the former Straight Edge leader at WrestleMania 36 in a marquee match.
The pledge would continue during an interview with 101 WKQX in Chicago last week, too. But to date, no positive updates have been received on the former WWE Champion.
