Mick Foley is quite a common name in professional wrestling. He is often regarded as ‘The Hardcore Legend’ by the fans and the critics. In his small WWE career, he has earned a lot of fame and respect from the world of wrestling because of his dedication to professional wrestling.
Foley started his wrestling career in WCW but Jim Ross brought him to the WWE. Vince McMahon might have used him as a mid-carder or a lower mid-card guy until someone changed Vince’s mind about Mick Foley. Jim Ross recently who it was in a recent episode of Grilling JR. He said;
Who Changed Vince McMahon’s Mind About Mick Foley? – Secret Revealed By Jim Ross
Vince relied on talents that he trusted. One of great traits of a really good booker is you bring guys in or you put two guys in a marriage, and you count on them to add some creative to it. The more they add to it, the better it’s gonna be executed. I think Vince saw early on thanks to Taker’s selling that, ‘I think we’re onto something, boss.’ That’s all Vince needed to hear. Your main star felt invested.
So, he’s onto something, and I’m gonna make sure I don’t cut this thing short. I think as time went on, all the big matches Mick has been in were basically with Undertaker. How’s he gonna do wrestling a guy that was known to be one of Vince’s favorites? We saw how that match played out, and it was fabulous.
From the very beginning of his career, Undertaker has been one of the most influential figures in the WWE. We have heard from various wrestlers before that Undertaker did a lot for a lot of guys. And who can forget the infamous backstory of Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania XIV? If Undertaker was not there, we might not have such a WrestleMania classic.
The feud between Mick Foley and The Undertaker was an idea of ‘The Dead Man’ as well. And we all know how that turned out to be. Their Hell in a Cell match from King of the Ring 1998 brought recognition for Foley. This was the match that created the era of the ‘Hardcore Legend.’ So we can say, we could get a wrestler like Mick Foley was because of the Undertaker as well. Fans could not be more thankful to ‘The Phenom.’
