WWE Universe witnessed a few glimpses of a dream feud between Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt but they never really had a one-on-one encounter. At one point, this match was scheduled to go down at Wrestlemania 32 in 2016 but it got scrapped. Then the match was again supposed to happen, earlier this year at Wrestlemania Hollywood only to be canceled.
Unlike in 2016, WWE itself wanted to book Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 39, but the idea had to be rejected. WWE even started the builds for the match but Wyatt was later placed with Bobby Lashley and this match also didn’t happen. It was also previously reported that WWE had an idea to book Bray Wyatt vs. his own real-life brother Uncle Howdy at the showcase of the immortals which didn’t materialize, either.

Reason Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt scrapped from Wrestlemania 39
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now reported that Brock Lesnar was the person who ended up rejecting a feud with Bray Wyatt and receiving him as a WrestleMania opponent. It was said that the decision wasn’t personal, but the 10-time champion simply didn’t think that he was the right opponent for the Eater of the World,
“Lesnar asked out of the match. It was nothing personal, just felt it was the wrong opponent for his character.”
Previously, while speaking on WrestleBinge, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long talked about Brock Lesnar refusing the match against the former leader of the Wyatt Family. Long sympathized with The Beast Incarnate’s decision given how protected his character was,
“That’s not his niche, so I don’t blame him. You do what you’re told if they ask you, but ‘why should I?’”
Heading into Wrestlemania 39, Brock Lesnar was supposed to earn a big win as he didn’t have a big win at the Show of Shows since the 2018 edition. This was the reason that WWE put him in a match against a novice, Omos. The outcome could’ve been different with Bray Wyatt who was just picking up momentums following a miraculous return in the fall of 2022.
After defeating LA Knight at Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt was slotted against Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39, but he never got to wrestle that match due to illness. It was last month that he passed away due to a reported heart attack.
