ToggleAs confirmed by herself on social media, Ronda Rousey has got no reason to stay around the WWE following Summerslam. That loss at the hands of her former bestie might have been the end of her professional wrestling career and some of the fans would be happy with this given how much hatred they had for her in recent times.
Ronda Rousey has been used to getting booed out of most of the buildings where she appeared for WWE shows and one of the main reasons was her lack of in-ring skills. On that note, it should be noted that she never was a gifted athlete from a different genre like former Olympian Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. Plus, she had to make a debut after a short span of training sessions with some of the WWE Superstars.
Ronda Rousey headlined the first-ever all-women WWE events
But that didn’t stop Ronda Rousey from delivering stellar performances that made her become a huge draw for the company from the get-go of her career. With the Women’s Evolution going in full force, WWE needed a mainstream figure who could feature in the billboard to sell out tickets for an all-women show, and the former UFC Superstar perfectly fitted into that role.
Ronda Rousey was one of the main reasons why WWE could have set up the all-women PPV event in Evolution in 2018 and then the all-women WrestleMania main event in April 2019. Without her presence, it’s safe to say that neither of these two shows would have gone down and WWE wouldn’t either have received the two pinnacle moments of the Women’s Evolution.
WWE Summerslam 2023: Ronda Rousey And Shayna Baszler’s Story Had To Be Hurried
Like a true trailblazer, Ronda Rousey also put over Becky Lynch on her way out of the WWE in her first stint at Wrestlemania 35 just like she did the same during the lead of the latest stint with Shayna Baszler. It was the great booking and her overly protected character that showcased her first run while WWE did mess things up in the second run.
WWE couldn’t hand her great opponents during the second run
The lack of opponents on Smackdown was the sole reason why Ronda Rousey’s second run fell flat and she has nothing to do with it. WWE also couldn’t understand whether she’d be booked as a heel or a babyface which damaged her run, even more. Then came the aspect of putting over Liv Morgan which totally destroyed her fierce image.
Lastly, unfortunate injuries, time-offs, and the preponed feud with Shayna Baszler failed to impress the WWE Universe and hopefully, this hiatus would benefit in the long term. Perhaps, a long absence is what Ronda Rousey needs to charge herself up and come back, strong to present us with a Women’s Evolution 2.0.
