Cody Rhodes made an expected return to the WWE, earlier this year by participating in a mega match at Wrestlemania 38. Eventually, he won that match and the moment had also become the number-one moment in the year 2022 as voted by the fans during the ESPY Award. This also helped the returnee to become the number-one babyface superstar on RAW.
However, this set of actions occurred when Vince McMahon was running things in his way. He did have plans around Cody Rhodes to be a top superstar after his impending return to the company. But now things have changed as Triple H is the new Head of Creative, and HHH and Cody don’t really are on good terms, per the earlier reports.

Back when Cody Rhodes was enjoying his first stint in the WWE, they never really saw eye to eye over a number of topics back in the day. During an interview with Inside The Ropes a few months ago, the former AEW Superstar himself admitted the same by saying that he was angry at Triple H back in 2016 due to creative differences:
“I was very, very angry. That anger remains as far as how we saw each other, how he saw me and what I wanted to do. I wanted to channel that anger differently.”

With another big return expected by Cody Rhodes once he recovers from his torn pec, the question remains whether Triple H will book him the similar way Vince McMahon used to do. According to Andrew Zarian, The American Nightmare is still scheduled to get a major singles push. Triple H and WWE Officials have discussed multiple plans for him around WrestleMania 39 and this should earn him a big match at the biggest PLE of the year.
As of this writing, the belief is that Cody Rhodes is scheduled to return from injury in January 2023, possibly at or before Royal Rumble 2023. The last time we saw him competing was at Hell in a Cell despite sustaining the torn pectoral muscle. That heroic effort has been filmed through a documentary that will showcase his gutsy win at Hell in a Cell against Seth Rollins. The docuseries is likely to be released once he returns, down the road.
