WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin remains the biggest star attraction on WWE TV even after retiring more than two decades ago. He made a surprise return to in-ring action at WrestleMania 38 for a match against Kevin Owens for his retirement. However, he hasn’t competed since then despite being in good shape and despite the rumors suggesting that more matches are reserved for him.
Despite no commitments, fans are eager to see him at WrestleMania 40, and it appears that their wish could be granted. This comes in light of The Rock’s comeback clubbed with the landmark 40th edition of the Show of Shows. This has ignited speculation about the potential involvement of perhaps his greatest rival in Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Stone Cold Steve Austin amongst legendary appearances at Wrestlemania 40?
In a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WrestleMania 40 set for Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will feature involvement from legendary names. Among those names appearances are likely to happen from Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and several others so that a star-studded lineup could be offered,
“There is no creative locked in for Cena and Austin at this moment, or if there is it’s a well-guarded secret. A lot depends on how much they are willing to do and money. Cena is free but depending on what acting stuff he has and how quick after he’s filming would determine how much he can or can’t do for insurance reasons. Austin and Undertaker would be based on willingness that they have.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the most popular professional wrestlers. His gimmick might be an all-time favorite to the WWE Universe and in times when WWE TV ratings had tanked, he appeared to be a valid name in upping that. While he doesn’t have any intentions to make a comeback on WWE TV every week, the idea of competing in more matches can’t be ruled out.
TKO wants Wrestlemania 40 to be the biggest of all time given this is the first time that they will be in charge of things. This aspect also ensures that WWE will try hard to secure a huge name like Stone Cold Steve Austin onboard.
