Wrestlemania 38 has been touted by the WWE as the Biggest of All-Time given the main event capacity of the show. For the first time, two world championships of the company were on the line where the two top-most superstars competed in it, namely then WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and then Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

WWE’s flagship premium live event of the year, Wrestlemania 38 took place over two nights on April 2 and 3 — emanating from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event was a tremendous success for the WWE and the details of the revenue generated from the Dallas/Arlington region have recently been revealed.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and Arlington Mayor Jim Ross have confirmed that WrestleMania 38 generated $206.5 million in economic impact for the state. The amount generated itself set a new company record for the Show of Shows as it surpassed the $200 million mark for the first time in its history.

“On behalf of the Jones family and the entire Dallas Cowboys organization, we congratulate WWE on their milestone success of WrestleMania at AT&T Stadium,” said Charlotte Jones, Chief Brand Officer of the Dallas Cowboys. “We were honored to partner with WWE and their Superstars to give back to the community in a multitude of ways during WrestleMania Week.”

Wrestlemania 38 had a tremendous impact on the local Dallas market

According to the WWE, 67% of fans that attended WrestleMania 38 in Texas were from outside the Dallas/Arlington region. A major chunk of those fans from overseas traveled for the first time since WrestleMania 35 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

$25.4 million was reportedly spent on hotel/accommodation in the area which was equivalent to the creation of 1,777 full-time jobs for the area. The event also approximately generated $24.8 million in federal, state, and local taxes.

As noted above, Universal Champion Roman Reigns won the WWE Championship by defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38 to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. With 156,632 fans in attendance over two nights, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin also made his in-ring return to the WWE after almost 20 years, defeating Kevin Owens in an impromptu match in the other headliner of the event.
