As seen on the December 30 episode of Smackdown, Charlotte Flair made her much-anticipated return to WWE programming for the first time since WrestleMania Backlash in May 2022. She pinned Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship and thereby become a 14-time World Champion in the history of the company. (Originally, she’s a 17-time champion in the WWE)
According to the already reports from Xero News, Triple H decided to book Charlotte Flair to win the SmackDown Women’s Title because most of the marquee matches for WrestleMania 39 were out on the internet where Flair was scheduled to face Bianca Belair for the RAW Women’s Championship. Hence, the WWE head honcho wanted to change things up in a big way,
“Triple H was the one who decided on Charlotte dethroning Rousey on SmackDown as he wanted to shake up the WrestleMania plans as everything had been getting leaked online and WWE had taken notice.”

In changed circumstances, Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair still remains a possibility but in a different capacity. Since Bianca is the reigning Raw Women’s Champion since Wrestlemania 39, fans can definitely expect to have a Champion vs. Champion Match if WWE plans on doing it to unify the two women’s titles.

Charlotte Flair targets a match with Bianca Belair
Charlotte Flair appeared on WWE’s The Bump following her title and had very positive comments to offer about Bianca Belair. She knows what it feels like to be a top champion in the company for a long time and all those responsibilities have been fulfilled by the EST of the WWE. However, to be the best you got to beat a Flair.
“First, I want to give kudos to Bianca,” Charlotte Flair stated about Belair. “I know what it’s like to be in that role she’s in, from the matches to live events to being a spokesperson, the media, the obligations, the signings. I know that schedule and how grueling it is, and she’s doing it.”
“She’s doing it well, and she’s striving, and she’s turning into what everyone said she was gonna be, the face of the women’s division, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. From a competitive side, the best for last, baby. Bring it.”
To date, Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair have wrestled each other several times over. Flair defeated Belair on the February 26, 2020 edition of NXT while on the main roster, they’ve wrestled twice in singles action. Belair won both of these matches by disqualification.
