Charlotte Flair is the top-most talent available in the WWE locker room and for all the right reasons, she is slated to feature in another marquee match at WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 39. The genetically superior athlete is booked to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley in a rematch that originally went down at the same stage as the NXT Women’s Championship.
On that night at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship. This year, Ripley earned the title match at WrestleMania 39 by winning the women’s Royal Rumble match. She specifically chose to go after the SmackDown Women’s Title since Flair is the holder of the belt and she doesn’t yet have a singles pay-per-view win against her.
Wrestlemania 39: Stone Cold Steve Austin Could Still Wrestle WWE Smackdown Superstar
With two top female Superstars clashing over the title, this one should be worth watching under the marque spotlight. Since WWE will have WrestleMania spanned across two nights just like the past couple of years, these two can certainly expect to be in the main event spotlight.

Update on WrestleMania 39 main event matches
It’s safe to assume, that the second night of WrestleMania 39 will be headlined by Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Cody Rhodes. For the other night, Charlotte Flair believes that her bout against The Judgment Day member should be a big contender.
“Rhea and I are main event quality, it’s a main event story, and I want to be in the main event with her. I know it’s going to be that good,” she stated during a conversation with Kevin Raphaël and Pat Laprade on Les anti-pods de la lutte. While The Queen is gunning for the first main event spotlight of her career at WrestleMania, WWE is yet to make a decision about it.
Rhea Ripley delivered perhaps the best performance of her entire career by winning the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match in January. Entering the match as the number one seed of the match, The Nightmare last eliminated Liv Morgan to earn a title shot at WrestleMania 39 after lasting in the match for over an hour from the number-one spot.
Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley had a long history in WWE programming
As noted above, Ripley had previously lost the WWE NXT Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36. On that occasion, Flair won the Rumble and went after WWE’s developmental brand championship. Then in the summer of 2021, the two women once again competed in a series of title matches in pay-per-view with Flair emerging as the winner.
