John Cena made his long-awaited return to WWE TV during the December 30 edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX. This return has helped maintain his impressive streak of wrestling in WWE since making his debut in 2002. It was a one-off appearance ahead of his rumored Wrestlemania 39 show-up.
With Wrestlemania 39 soon approaching, the WWE Universe is hoping for John Cena to showcase his wrestling skills in Hollywood in a match. Hollywood is the place where The Champ currently resides, away from the WWE and it makes sense that he will be appearing at the show in some capacity.
WWE Wrestlemania 39: Charlotte Flair’s Title Win Causes Change In Title Match Plans
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite all the uncertainties, it’s believed that the 16-time World Champion will be working Wrestlemania 39 which is set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California,
“The belief is that Cena will be working WrestleMania but what we were told is that he’s working on his schedule to make sure it works, but the belief is that he’ll get it done.”
Before December 30, John Cena was last seen on WWE Raw in June 2022, to celebrate his 20th year anniversary in the company. Then he returned to team up with Kevin Owens to battle Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the final TV taping of the year at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
John Cena to be busy in movie filming ahead of Wrestlemania 39
Recent reports suggested that The Cenation Leader’s status for the biggest event of the year was in jeopardy due to his commitments with Hollywood and the situation does stand that way. However, his strong bond with the WWE Universe is unquestionable and we can assume that he’d be trying to free up his schedule to make a way to ‘Mania.
The extent of John Cena’s appearance at Wrestlemania 39 is unknown at this point, but for a long time, speculations were running rampant regarding a match with Austin Theory when Vince McMahon was in charge of running things in the WWE. But things have changed since retirement over the 2022 summer and we doubt whether the previous plans were still intact.
John Cena last participated in a match at Wrestlemania during the 36th edition against The Fiend Bray Wyatt which was a cinematic presentation. His physical involvement was limited due to movie insurance policies and the same could be expected if he wrestles a match at Wrestlemania 39 in Hollywood.
