ToggleWrestlemania 39 is going to be an extravaganza over two nights under the bright lights of Hollywood in California. Due to this being the biggest premium live event in their calendar, WWE is expected to book the heaviest star power from their banner to make the event a grand success. This obviously included two huge movie stars coming out of their league, John Cena and The Rock.
Previous reports have indicated that both these two mega stars are expected to appear at Wrestlemania 39, possibly to compete in separate matches against separate opponents. However, that may not be true as a reliable source has provided updates stating that neither one of them is guaranteed for next year’s Premium Live Event in April.
Wrestlemania 39: WWE Has Huge Match Planned For Legendary Rey Mysterio
The Rock to be busy in XFL en route to Wrestlemania 39
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained how The Rock is far from guaranteed to appear at Wrestlemania 39 since he already has prior commitments with the XFL launch in February,
“Am I saying he’s not going to do it? No, I’m not saying that at all. And if he’s doing it, wow, you have him, Austin, and Cena all on the same show – or the same weekend because they’ll split them up, obviously.”
The XFL is expected to begin in early 2023 and will be the third iteration of the football league without any involvement of Vince McMahon who sold the league to The Rock and his production, a couple of years ago.
John Cena to be busy in movies leading to Wrestlemania 39
As for John Cena, he also has plenty of commitments in 2023. In fact, he will be busy filming movies leading up to WrestleMania 39 and his appearances aren’t a guaranteed thing, as well,
“Cena’s not 100% either, by the way. He’s got a movie in February and March, so he’s not going to be able to do a lot of TVs. I don’t know…he will do the show if he’s available, but it’s the same thing. He may have other things going on. I was told… I guess the best way to put it is Cena is a ‘probable’, and Dwayne is a ‘possible’ maybe a probable, I don’t know, but neither is a sure thing.”
John Cena will be back on WWE TV to team with Kevin Owens to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the final SmackDown of 2022. The expectation is that he will make announcements regarding his status at Royal Rumble 2023 or Wrestlemania 39 on that night. So, we’ll have to wait and see whether he does drop any news during the final WWE TV taping of this year.
