Former franchise player of the WWE, John Cena has been announced to make his return to WWE programming on the December 30th episode of SmackDown which takes place from his current hometown of Tampa, Florida at the Amalie Arena. This episode is going to be the final WWE show of 2022 and the second-only WWE TV appearance of the legendary superstar for this year.
Back on the June 27 episode of Raw, WWE celebrated the 20-year anniversary of their top player who ruled the yard for a long time before Roman Reigns took over. In that final appearance on WWE TV, John Cena did not wrestle but appeared in several backstage segments throughout. It ended with a promo session in front of multiple WWE Raw roster members. Nothing regarding his next match was also noted during that night.
