Ronda Rousey has long enjoyed a run as the Smackdown Women’s Champion since her return at Royal Rumble 2022. With Shayna Baszler by her side, she was portrayed as the top heel for the past few months. But now in the New Year, the company is going in a different direction and hence, her expected WrestleMania match could have been changed.
On the December 30 episode of SmackDown, Ronda Rousey defeated Raquel Rodriguez to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Soon after the match, Charlotte Flair returned to WWE programming for the first time since WrestleMania Backlash. Flair then pinned Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship to become a 14-time World Champion.
WWE Raw Talent Wants Her Own Wrestlemania Moment In Near Future
As per the earlier reports, WWE had plans for Ronda Rousey to face Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 39 in their long-awaited singles match. The two have featured in a long-term feud in the past but eventually, they’re unable to compete in a one-on-one bout. The high profile was pushed back to happen at Wrestlemania Hollywood but that’s not the case anymore.
WWE no more interested in Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch
Since Ronda Rousey has lost the Smackdown Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair his Wrestlemania title defense against Becky Lynch can’t possibly happen. Many fans have started wondering whether WWE will keep the Rousey vs. Lynch lineup intact and the answer is negative. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE has no plans for that match to take place in April 2023,
“Right now that is not the plan. The rotation is in different places. I don’t know what Ronda or Becky’s match is. But, as of today, this morning, it was said to me that it was very unlikely. It’s definitely not the plan right now.”
Becky Lynch rose to the top of stardom in the past few years and Ronda Rousey was one of her bitter rivals during that timespan. This match was evident to happen at some point to culminate in the bitter rivalry. But going by the latest reports, WWE Universe may not be able to witness the match, at all. However, being the top-most talents on the WWE roster, the two will certainly be booked in top matches on the Wrestlemania 39 match card.
