With Royal Rumble 2023 approaching closer, this is the time that Wrestlemania 39 angles will gradually fall in place. All the top superstars under the WWE banner will be gathered for this two-night extravaganza and the list certainly counts WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
It was back at Extreme Rules 2022 that we saw the legendary superstar in action. On that night in early October, he lost to Finn Balor in an “I Quit” match. The unthinkable happened after The Judgment Day threatened to attack his wife, fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, and thereby forced him to say “I Quit” for the first time in his illustrious career.
WWE Live Event Updated Schedule Announced For Road To Wrestlemania 39
Edge & Beth Phoenix to return as a team?
Despite Edge saying “I Quit” to lose the match, Rhea Ripley went on to deliver a Steel Chair shot on Beth on the head and this storyline will progress on WWE TV, moving forward. According to Xero News, the current plan for Wrestlemania 39 is for Edge and Beth Phoenix to team up against Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley in a Mixed Tag Team Match.
Wrestlemania 39 plans around Rhea Ripley could change
It’s been noted by Wrestling Observer that Wrestlemania 39 plans won’t be concreted until January arrives. Hence, the above-mentioned match is yet to be finalized. It was further added by Xero News that the match idea could change if Rhea tends to gain momentum in her singles run and thereby enter the title picture.
In that case, WWE Officials might consider adding her to the planned Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair match for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39 and make it a Triple Threat. Earlier reports suggested that Flair is the current front-runner for winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match and challenging Belair for the top women’s title of the red brand.
As for Edge, it’s more than certain that he will continue his feud with The Judgment Day upon his return to WWE TV that’s going to happen on the Road to Wrestlemania 39. All his appearance commitments for this year have been fulfilled, and he will only appear on WWE programming in 2023.
The two-night show WrestleMania 39 will take place on April 1st and 2nd at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. As of this writing, no matches or superstars have been officially announced for the WWE premium live event.
