WrestleMania 39 is barely three months away in the WWE calendar, and the specialty for this year is that there won’t be any Vince McMahon to handle things. The WWE owner and Wrestlemania creator has retired from his position, allowing his daughter and son-in-law to take things over in the company, for good.
The new regime alongside WWE co-CEO Nick Khan has been working pretty well and fans are looking forward to what they will offer at Wrestlemania 39. As we expect that things will be different this time, WWE appears to have big plans for the night planned from Hollywood. Speculations are all over the place regarding the return of John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock.
Possible initial Wrestlemania 39 Match card
As for the main card of Wrestlemania 39 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on April 1 and 2, 2023, these below-given six matches have internally been confirmed,
– The Rock vs. Roman Reigns (Undisputed WWE Universal Championship)
– Brock Lesnar vs. GUNTHER
– John Cena vs. Logan Paul/LA Knight
– Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch
– Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair
– Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio
Rey vs Dominik could take place at Wrestlemania 39
According to the reports of Xero News, the “Father vs. Son” match between Rey and Dominik is likely to have a stipulation of Rey’s Mask being on the line. This could end up being a ‘passing the torch’ match at Wrestlemania 39 where Rey would end up handing over his legacies from Lucha Libre tradition to his son.
Interestingly, CM Punk, who is now signed to AEW, has also been considered for an appearance at Wrestlemania 39. There are still issues to be settled between Punk and AEW and given Triple H’s stance, he could be leaning toward dragging back the former Straight Edge Society leader into the WWE scene.
Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio If Punk would be available, then one of the most anticipated matchups on the Wrestlemania 39 card would be Punk vs. Steve Austin. Meltzer added that WWE and Austin are also currently in discussions for a WrestleMania 39 return,
“It’s all hands on deck. They’ve got two nights of WrestleMania and there’s big money matches he (Austin) can do.”
