Being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns is unarguably the favorite to feature in the main event match at WrestleMania 39. He’s reportedly set to wrestle in two matches at WrestleMania Hollywood one on each night of the Show of Shows.
Original Wrestlemania main event plans
According to the original reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE wanted to split the World Titles and have two separate champions again on Raw and Smackdown. This is the reason the source cited that the previous working idea was that Reigns may end up losing his title to his WrestleMania 39 opponents Cody Rhodes (Night One) and The Rock (Night Two).

However, the source also added the following regarding the uncertainty around Wrestlemania 39 main event,
“Nothing is definite and actually today the best bet is that it won’t take place like that. There is also talk of splitting up the titles so Raw has a world champion after Mania. But anything until probably mid-January when plans have to be finalized because of the Rumble for this year is just talk.”
No plans are there for Reigns’ dual appearance at Wrestlemania 39
In changed circumstances, Ringside News has reached out to get more updates on the story. With Roman Reigns booked to wrestle on both nights of the grandest stage of them all, the buildup situation had to offer a lot. However, no such situation is likely going to occur as per the new updates.
RSN was confirmed by a tenured member of the team that there is “no talk at all about Roman wrestling both nights” of Wrestlemania 39. With The Rock being a “virtual lock” for the show of shows that dream WrestleMania match will be waiting and WWE can’t keep that in jeopardy by forcing Reigns to wrestle just a night ago. Plus, the top champion also ends up suffering an injury before competing in possibly the biggest match of his career.
Apart from this marquee match, John Cena could also show up at Wrestlemania 39 as Vince McMahon gave his blessing for him to appear for WWE as often as he can. Stone Cold Steve Austin is also being discussed making appearances on the show. That being said, a huge two-night spectacle is guaranteed to go down in the first week of April.
