ToggleA Father vs. Son duel is expected to go down at WrestleMania 39 featuring Dominik and Rey Mysterio. Dominik Mysterio has been unleashing his true heel side on WWE TV for the past several months. He turned into a villain by attacking his father Rey Mysterio as well as WWE Hall of Famer Edge at WWE Clash At The Castle Premium Live Event 2022 in September. With Rhea Ripley by his side, the unfolding storyline should culminate in the big match.
The WrestleMania 39 angle started with Rey not wanting to fight his son on Raw and hence he asked WWE head honcho Triple H to trade him to Smackdown. After not being on the same show for a while now, Dominik and Rey crossed paths again at home in an unprecedented manner and things didn’t end well for the former WWE Champion.

Ripley and Dominik ambushed Rey Mysterio
Ripley and Dominik visited The Mysterio household on Thanksgiving and those two brutally assaulted The Master of 619 after trespassing into the house. Since then Mysterio has been wearing a cast on his leg to portray his kayfabe injury. But the recent reports of him being injured also appear to be true. This is the reason why he didn’t compete in the Smackdown World Cup as originally planned and didn’t also return to action in a subsequent manner.

Wrestlemania 39: Logan Paul Demands Legendary WWE Superstar As Dream Opponent
Since his debut on Raw in 2020 against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, the young Dominik has been a prominent feature on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown. A win against Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 39 could just elevate him to the next level where he could start gunning for the solo championships in the WWE. Finn Balor, who is Judgment Day’s leader, spoke to BT Sport about Dominik’s character development and in-ring skills and threw major praises at him,
“[It’s beautiful to] see Dominik kind of slip into the role so seamlessly because people forget he kind of debuted about a year before he turned heel and he was learning on the job, like he wasn’t really doing that much training. And I mean that with the greatest amount of respect but, you know, he had a couple months training, I think with Lance, and, you know, little bits here and there with his dad and stuff but not an immense amount of training to be in the deep end on live TV for WWE.”
