Cody Rhodes will make history at Wrestlemania 40 when he will main event both nights of the show. In a recent development, it has now been confirmed that he has inked a new contract with WWE which will be extending his tenure in the company beyond his 40th birthday.

The news came through Fightful which noted that Rhodes had been offered a fresh contract by WWE, although he was yet to put pen to paper. The Wrestling Observer also gave a positive nod to the information, stating that Rhodes finalized the deal in October 2023.

Then while speaking to Justin Walker of 8 News Now in Las Vegas, Nevada, Rhodes officially confirmed the signing of his new WWE contract while he was on a promotion spree for Wrestlemania 40.

While The American Nightmare didn’t disclose the exact duration of the deal, he did mention that it extends beyond his 40th birthday. Rhodes is currently 38 years old which means that he will be committed to WWE for at least the next couple of years, or even beyond that. For the time being, he’s celebrating two years of WWE return en route to Wrestlemania 40.

The new contract signing also makes a notable change in Rhodes’ perspective, as he had previously expressed intentions of slowing down his in-ring career upon reaching 40. However, his take on this retirement aspect has since been changed. In this pre-Wrestlemania 40 interview, it was noted that Rhodes will eventually decide to retire but he aims to ensure he’d be physically comfortable like his father, Dusty Rhodes, who continued wrestling in an aged state,

“I did sign a new contract with WWE. It extends beyond my 40th birthday. The plan is still when it’s time to step out, to step out without it being a painful process. Solely because I saw my dad as an old man wrestler and he loved it and enjoyed it, but as his son it was hard to see.”

Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes’ two Wrestlemania 40 match lineups at the WWE PLE are given below:

– Biggest Tag Team Match of All Time: The Rock & WWE Champion Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins [Main Event of Night One]
