WWE’s next pop culture extravaganza will be Wrestlemania 40 which will go down in the spring of next year. No official match or superstar has been announced for the event but speculations are running rampant around the show. Cody Rhodes are being rumored to feature in the main event for a second straight year. Plus, Ronda Rousey is also expected to compete in a fresh match on the show.
As of now, the pair Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler team is enjoying their inaugural run as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions on Raw. There’s no update on how long the run will last but eventually, their partnership is going to reach a break-point to produce a mega match at Wrestlemania 40.

Wrestlemania 40: Rousey vs. Baszler big match set for WWE PLE?
During the May 29 episode of Monday Night Raw, the team of Rousey and Baszler defeated Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi, Damage CTRL (Bayley & IYO SKY), and Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville in a Fatal-4-Way Match to win the earlier vacant Women’s Tag Team Championship.
But WWE’s long-term plans call for them to head into splitsville in time for the biggest event of the year. According to the reports of Xero News, Rousey and Baszler will eventually enter a feud, later this year which would further set up a match between them at WrestleMania 40.
Ronda Rousey herself wanted a tag team title run
There’s no update on how this touted Wrestlemania 40 rivalry will get kick-started but for the time being, the new tag champs are likely to rule the tag division. In a recent interview with The Ringer’s Cheap Heat podcast, Baszler said that Rousey was the one to demand the tag team title run to the WWE officials. The Baddest Woman on the Planet was adamant to function as a tag team with her fellow former UFC star.
“This was something [Rousey] demanded,” Baszler said. “We’d been asking for it forever, but she finally put her foot down and went to the office and said, ‘Listen, we’ve been asking for this forever. You keep telling us, ‘After, after, after this, this.’ I honestly don’t know if she hadn’t done that, if they ever would have got to it.”
Ronda Rousey is a three-time overall singles Women’s Champion in her WWE career as she had captured the RAW (1-time) and SmackDown Women’s Titles (2-time). The 1-time women’s tag champion also participated in four previous Wrestlemania matches which would mark her Wrestlemania 40 outing, her fifth outing at the biggest event of the year.
