ToggleWrestlemania 40 will be the next grand affair in professional wrestling to be delivered by the WWE in the spring of 2024. Lincoln Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has been announced to be the host of the biggest PLE of the year. WWE does have a lot of plans in the pipeline to be executed for this grand event.
It appears that the main event plans for Wrestlemania 40 will continue revolving around pushing Cody Rhodes. This comes after the ‘Grandson of a Plumber’ garnered tons of attention in delivering the main event of Wrestlemania 39. In that match, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble Match winner Cody Rhodes after interferences came from The Usos and Solo Sikoa.
WWE Wrestlemania 40: Possible Marquee Match Revealed Featuring Charlotte Flair
There was speculation that WWE might do a rematch between Reigns and Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. Previously, WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport that WWE had a main event match in mind for the Biggest Event of the year in 2024 and that’s another bout between The American Nightmare and The Head of the Table,
“I can say this. The rematch that’s at the forefront of everybody’s minds, Cody vs Roman, is very much on the table to main event in Philadelphia next year.”
Wrestlemania 40: Fresh feud booked for Cody Rhodes?
In an update, reports also claim that a fresh booking could also be seen at Wrestlemania 40. WRKD Wrestling tweeted out to inform fans that WWE could very well be eyeing Cody Rhodes vs. GUNTHER for a main event spot at next year’s PLE. We can assume that this match won’t be contested for the Intercontinental Championship but rather in a huge capacity,
“While it’s still early, discussions have taken place for #WWERaw’s main event for WrestleMania 40 to potentially be Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther.
Both superstars have expressed interest in working with each other in the past and are seen as the top face and heel on the Raw roster.”
Cody Rhodes is number-one babyface on WWE Raw
As per the recent updates from PWInsider, Cody is internally listed as the number-one babyface on the men’s roster on Raw, while Gunther is listed as the number-one heel on the red brand which automatically generates the idea of a mega match at Wrestlemania 40. Also, Cody (30th seed) and Gunther (1st seed) were the last two men in the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble 2023 match, where Cody eliminated Gunther to win.
