Wrestlemania Backlash 2021: WWE Title Match Set For May PPV Event

WWE will commence the post-PPV schedule with Wrestlemania Backlash event set for next month from the ThunderDome. The potential main event for the night is now set as the WWE Championship will be on the line on that night featuring a rematch from the Show of Shows. Drew McIntyre will once again challenge Bobby Lashley for the title as he earned the right of doing so.

This week’s Raw started the storylines for Wrestlemania Backlash PPV event where MVP came to the ring and said Bobby Lashley did exactly what he said he was going to do and that was to defeat Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 and retain his WWE Championship.

Drew McIntyre then interrupted admitting that Lashley got the best of him with The Hurt Lock, but he wanted another chance where he would take out Lashley with a Claymore Kick. Braun Strowman interrupted and said he wants to be Lashley’s next challenger. Randy Orton also interrupted with the same pledge.

WWE Official Adam Pearce came out to inform that the Raw main event will be Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman vs. Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match, with the winner challenging Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania Backlash PPV on May 16.

In the main event match, Orton RKO-ed Strowman and went for the cover, but McIntyre hit him with a lower Claymore Kick in the middle of his pinfall attempt. McIntyre then pinned Orton to win the match confirming his rematch against the All-Mighty at Wrestlemania Backlash.

Bobby Lashley has T-BAR and Mace by his side before Wrestlemania Backlash?

After the match, MVP came to the stage and stood there as McIntyre watched from the ring. Former RETRIBUTION members T-BAR and Mace then attacked McIntyre from behind and took him out in the middle of the ring with a double-chokeslam. The RAW After WrestleMania went off the air with T-BAR and Mace looking on from the bottom of the ramp, while MVP standing on the ramp while McIntyre stared everyone down from the ring.

This seemingly confirmed that T-BAR and Mace could have joined Lashley in a new faction before Wrestlemania Backlash to make him look stronger. As the rematch waits, next month, it’s interesting to note that Lashley vs. McIntyre took place at the Backlash 2020 PPV as well, where McIntyre defeated Lashley to retain the WWE Championship.
