WWE 2K22 previously scored a huge success when it comes to bringing interactive gaming experience for professional wrestling fans. The partnership between WWE and Take-Two Interactive (Take-Two is the parent company of 2K Sports) was intact for all these years but things went in a negative way indicating that closure could be on the horizon, soon. This could be the reason why WWE has shown an approach to a competing publisher for the first time.
Fightful Select is the first to report that WWE has had recent talks with Electronic Arts (EA) about moving the WWE Games division over to their company. Without a doubt, EA is one of the top gaming publishers in the world and WWE could be looking for a tie-in, here.

The upcoming WWE 2K22 video game is being considered as a “make or break” release for the series and the report noted how a lot is depending on the launch of the game. The feedback around this edition will be there in the following weeks and months.
It was also stated that the last contract signed between WWE and Take-Two was in 2016 via which we have received back to back annual edition of the WWE 2K series leading up to WWE 2K22. While no official details are available, it’s believed that this was a six-year deal, coming to an end, this year but it has an option to be extended.

A lot depends on WWE 2K22 game’s success
As noted above, if WWE 2K22 is well-received by players and fans and the sales meet the expectations, an extension could be signed. But if the game is seen as a failure, then WWE Games could be moving to EA and the chances of this happening are far bigger.
Talks between WWE and EA have been going for years which probably goes was back to the 2016 deal signed to bring out the WWE gaming series until WWE 2K22 WWE and Take-Two. The two sides have also had talks about an agreement in early 2021. But the disappointment with WWE 2K20, and the lackluster reception to WWE 2K Battlegrounds could have been factors in WWE going after EA.
“WWE has shown a lot of frustration with the reception and lack of success of recent games,” one source noted. “The gaming market is a major selling point for them, and they believe they’ve fallen behind the competition.”
