AJ Styles is the reigning WWE Champion on Smackdown Live. WWE has never seen such phenomenal title-holder like him in the past several years. He is the best recruit of the WWE in the past two decades.
The creative team thought of using Styles in the mid-card picture after the debut in 2016. The fan reactions changed all the plans around him.
The brand extension draft took place later in that year. Styles became the franchise player of the brand from that point onwards. He carried the show on the Tuesday Nights from the get-go.
It was quite obvious that he received two strong title runs with the WWE Championship. Styles went on to add more class to the most prestigious title present in the sports entertainment.
The Phenomenal One started a rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura during the Wrestlemania season. The latter one became the Royal Rumble winner and challenge Styles for the championship at the biggest event of the year.
Well, it turned out to be one of the main events of the program that witnessed a shocker.
Nakamura turned heel by hitting Styles with a low blow. The rivalry took a new turn from that point onwards. These two have grown a lot of bad blood between each other. This has set up the next chapter in their rivalry at the Money in the Bank PPV event.
It is going to be a Last Man Standing match between the veteran talents.
The anticipation is much higher from these two in-ring technicians around this bout. Most of the fans think that Nakamura has the upper hand in this match. He is playing the dirty games well to come on top of the current champion.
Styles does not think that way and gave a straight warning to his opponent via social media,
“Since November of 2017, I have stood as the WWE Champion. And whether the match was No DQ, 2 vs. 1, steel cage, triple threat, or a dream…I’ve stood tall. And you better believe I’ll be standing at the end of #MITB. #AndStill #Phenomenal.”
AJ Styles has been the reason why Smackdown Live is the current A-show of the WWE toppling Monday Night Raw. He has already held the title for almost 200 days.
WWE MITB might be the time when he drops the title to his nemesis. The audience will love to see Nakamura’s heel run with the title, as well.
