The annual Clash of Champions PPV will make its return to the WWE PPV calendar at the last month of 2017. It is hosted just after the Summerslam PPV. But, this year, the schedule was changed. It was during the Survivor Series when the show got confirmed with an announcement.
It is going to be the last PPV for this year. The Smackdown Live brand will get to conduct the event on December 17th. The TD Gardens in Boston Massachusetts with be the host to the brand-exclusive event. Now, as per the updates from this week’s Smackdown, we have already known about the main event of the show.
The WWE Champion, AJ Styles will defend his title against Jinder Mahal. It will be a rematch between the two of them after Jinder lost the title after almost a 170-day reign. During the WWE United Kingdom tour, the championship change took place to the much delight of the WWE Universe. At this time, the former champion decided to exercise the rematch clause at the upcoming PPV event.

Initially, the match was about to take place on this week’s edition of Smackdown Live. At the Survivor Series PPV, the announce team hinted Jinder Mahal might invoke his rematch clause on this week’s show. However, we have seen otherwise with Jinder postponing the match.

Being the heel superstar, he denied accepting the championship challenge made by AJ Styles on Smackdown Live. Rather, he demanded the title shot at Clash of Champions PPV. Since this match will decide the fate of the prime title in the WWE, it is expected to be the main event of the night. Later, WWE.com confirmed this contest,
“Styles was all for having their title match then and there, but Mahal decided instead to bide his time and wait until WWE Clash of Champions for the championship bout. Tune in to see who emerges with the WWE Title at WWE Clash of Champions, streaming live Sunday, Dec. 17, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.”
The much-anticipated match between these two will happen once Jinder Mahal is done with the WWE Live in India on December 9th. He is set to square off in a match against Triple H.
