Last night marked the first dual-brand event Backlash in nearly a decade. For the first time since the brand split, the WWE Raw and Smackdown superstars came together to start a new era in WWE PPV programming. Five championship matches were in-store on the night alongside a solid main event. Check out the results of Backlash hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs. The Miz –

The Miz tried with everything to come up with the win. He connected with two Skull Crushing Finale but Rollins kicked out of that, both times. Also, Figure Four submission move was locked into Rollins but he came up short. Rollins hit the Curb Stomp, suddenly to pick up the win.

WWE United States Championship Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton went for an early RKO attempt which was ducked by Jeff Hardy. After a number of counters of the high-flying superstar, he finally got caught with a snap powerslam from Orton. The Viper then picked up the pace hitting his pendant DDT off the rope. But. Hardy came back into the contest, quickly connecting with a Twist of Fate. He followed it up with a Swanton Bomb to get the win at Backlash.

Raw Women’s Championship Match
Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss
Alexa Bliss tried to capitalize in this match, at an early point of the match with a dropkick. Later, she managed to plant Jax with a DDT on the steel steps. But, pinfall can’t be gained since Bliss failed to get her up in the ring. Later, Jax dropped Bliss with a Samoan Drop to retain her championship at Backlash.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair gave replies to her opponent’s mockeries by her pendant struts and chops. Later, Mella digested a huge spear but came back with her own Code of Silence Submission move. Charlotte got over from it and tried to deliver a moon sault but missed. She hurt her knees in this process. Carmella capitalized by rolling her up to get the pinfall.

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass
Daniel Bryan targeted the knee of Big Cass which is surgically repaired. But, Cass backfired countering the running dropkicks with a huge slam on the mat. Bryan got back and ducked a clothesline from Cass to hit him on the head. Thereafter, the YES lock was locked in to force Cass to tap out. After the match, Cass ambushed Daniel Bryan from the back and ended the segment with a big boot.

Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
There were some confusions at the end of the match. After dominating the entire contest, Strowman pinned Owens with a running powerslam when Zayn was the original legal man. Once the commentary team pointed this out, Strowman brought back both the heel inside the ring. They both digested one piece of powerslam before the monster left the ring.

Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe
The contest started with Samoa Joe putting Roman Reigns with a powerslam through the announce table. He continued to toss Reigns with numerous such tables before the contest actually started. Reigns came back with a superman punch and spear. But, Joe backfired with choked hold. While going for the Muscle Buster, he digested a huge spear to digest the pinfall. Roman Reigns celebrated his win at Backlash.

No Disqualification Match For The WWE Championship: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

It was a wild contest between two of these contestants with back and forth going. Nakamura’ chair shot left Styles busted open. Still, the champion was able to lock in the Calf Crusher and the forearm. Nakamura hit the low blow but received the favor, this time with a low blow from Styles.

Later, both the men hit low blow kicks on each other to get counted out. Styles retained via a double count-out at Backlash.
