Brock Lesnar has been a dominant force in the WWE since the beginning of his second stint in the company, all the way back in 2012. He’s been unbeaten for almost two years at one point in the WWE while being the reigning Universal Champion for 500 days. He’s also the one to shave shattered the undefeated streak of The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30.
That untouchable character of Brock Lesnar is no more intact. Of course, he remains a top heel of the WWE roster and one of the free agents who can appear on both the Raw and Smackdown brands, per his wish. In the meantime, his loss at WWE Backlash 2023 marked the end of an incredible record that last for several years in the WWE.
WWE Backlash 2023: Brock Lesnar Receives Standing Ovation After Main Event
The Beast Incarnate was in control of his match against Cody Rhodes in Backlash 2023 despite losing a lot of blood due to a pre-match attack by his rival. Cody finally got the win after reversing the Kimura Lock into a pin-fall attempt. With this, Cody also handed The Beast his first clean pin-fall loss of this year.
Brock Lesnar was unbeaten in non-title PPV matches before Backlash since 2016
In a report from Ringside News, it was noted that prior to losing against Cody Rhodes at Backlash 2023, Brock Lesnar had a seven-year streak of no pinfall losses in non-title matches. His last defeat in a match without a championship involved came at the 2016 Survivor Series versus Goldberg. That squash battle for one minute and 25 seconds eventually led to a clash at WrestleMania 33, where Lesnar’s revenge was documented against The Myth.
From that point onward, Brock Lesnar has consistently been seen in world championship matches in his WWE career. Over the Universal title, he had feuds with top stars like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman for the Universal Title and become this unbeatable persona.
Prior to his defeat against Goldberg, Brock Lesnar lost to The Undertaker at SummerSlam 2015 via the referee’s decision. But it should be mentioned that he was never pinned or submitted in this match but rather got faded out, forcing the referee to stop the encounter. Before that, he was pinned by John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012 and then at Wrestlemania 29 by Triple H.
