WWE Backlash 2023 has been confirmed to be the first post-Wrestlemania 39 premium live event. The tradition of hosting Wrestlemania Backlash was dropped after a couple of years with the announcement that Puerto Rico will be the host of the show with celebrity Bad Bunny presenting it.
“We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque about WWE Backlash 2023 emanating outside the USA territory, “Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico.”

As confirmed, WWE Backlash 2023 will take place in Puerto Rico on Saturday, May 6 and Bad Bunny will host this PLE. This will be the first WWE PPV in Puerto Rico since January 2005 when WWE hosted the New Year’s Revolution with an Elimination Chamber match being the headliner.

Noticeably, Roman Reigns is being booked for WWE Backlash 2023 which possibly indicates that he’s not going into a hiatus following Wrestlemania 39. Same is the case for Edge who will also be seen at the PLE. According to Xero News, some former WWE stars from the Puerto Rico zone are also scheduled to return at this event,
“Expect certain former stars from the ‘generalized area’ back for Backlash. I’m not on about Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, etc. It’s a FORMER Star(s).”
No specific name has been given in this context but given that WWE Backlash 2023 will be an international event, we can expect that some of the major star powers will be booked for the show. Bad Bunny will be the host of the show and we assume that he will be involved in some kind of storyline to hype things up around the PLE. Admittedly, he’s very much excited about attending a WWE Show in his home region.
