Around a month from now, WWE will present their next premium live event in the form of Backlash 2023, leaving the Wrestlemania term off the branding. As announced last month, the first post-Wrestlemania 39 premium live event was confirmed from Puerto Rico, the first PLE to go down in that region in more than 18 long years.

Additionally, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was happy to announce Bad Bunny to be the host of WWE Backlash 2023 outside the proper USA territory,

“We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow. Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico.”

Before heading to his hometown to host Backlash 2023, Bad Bunny found a stop at Wrestlemania 39 where he helped legendary Rey Mysterio to pick up a win over his son Dominik Mysterio. Moving on, a challenge is waiting for him from a former WWE Champion who also appears to be the host of Wrestlemania 39.

The Miz wants Bad Bunny at WWE Backlash 2023

While speaking with WrestlingNews.co’s Steve Fall, The Miz made it clear that he would love to compete against Puerto Rican rapper again at a grand stage. The A-Lister added that it would be a dream match for him to face Bad Bunny in Puerto Rico, again after squaring off against him at Wrestlemania 37, two years ago.

Here’s what Miz had to say about Backlash 2023 and John Cena’s one-off match at Wrestlemania 39,

“Me versus Bad Bunny, one-on-one. It sounds like a dream match to me in Puerto Rico. The thing about John Cena is he’s a global superstar. You look at the movies he’s done, Peacemaker, the television show, and then all the accolades he can do in WWE. He’s put forth the work. No one has a harder work ethic than John Cena, and it shows and it resonates to us.”
