WWE’s Ruthless Aggression Era star Carlito made a grand return at WWE Backlash 2023 premium live event. In front of his hometown fans, he received huge pop and also helped another native star, Bad Bunny to pick up the win in a Street Fight against Judgment Day’s Street Fight. Puerto Rico native Savio Vega also showed up during this much-discussed matchup.
Moving on the rumor is that Carlito may not be done with the company after WWE Backlash 2023. He could be around the world’s biggest wrestling brand in a backstage role. Two years ago, Carlito returned to the WWE to compete in Men’s Royal Rumble match and also wrestled the next night on RAW.
In an update from WWFOldSchool, WWE then offered him a deal to be a Coach in the company and wrestle on an occasional basis. However, the former Intercontinental Champions didn’t accept the deal. Now, insider source BoozerRasslin indicates that Carlito might accept WWE’s offer this time after WWE Backlash 2023 appearance,
“He just might accept it this time. Carlito has been offered a contract a lot of times, that’ll give him some TV time and stories + coaching. He kept declining all the time. But I guess it’s time he knows what’s right for him. He can be useful.”

During the Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest – San Juan Street Fight at WWE Backlash 2023, Judgment Day members Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio interfered in favor of Priest. This led Carlito, Savio Vega, and Rey Mysterio alongside The LWO to come out to make the save for Bunny. Eventually, Bunny got the pin-fall win over Priest after hitting him with a Canadian Destroyer.
As noted above, WWE Backlash 2023 marked Carlito’s first WWE appearance since 2021, when he competed in that year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. He lasted over eight minutes in that match. The night after, he teamed with Jeff Hardy in a one-off match on WWE Raw, the next night to pick up a win over Jaxson Ryker and Elias.
Prior to that, Carlito was under a WWE contract from 2004 to 2010. During that run, he was able to capture the WWE United States, Intercontinental, and Tag Team Championships. Time will tell whether his tenure in the company gets extended following WWE Backlash 2023.
