WWE Battleground 2017 Full Match Card And Prediction: July 23rd, 2017
This year, the Battleground PPV is making its return as a Smackdown-exclusive PPV. It will mark the fifth straight year that the event has been able to retain its spot in the WWE calendar. We should also remember that tomorrow night’s show will be the last big event before we get to Summerslam, next month.
The PPV will be hosted by the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In combined, eight matches have been confirmed with the main event being the WWE Championship match between Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton to be contested inside the Punjabi Prison. Check out the entire match card with prediction, here:
The Usos vs. the New Day (Smackdown tag team Championship)
Prediction: Any one from these two teams can walk out as the tag team championships considering both have valid momentums to win. However, the champion benefit should go to the Usos. They have been incredible champions, as well. So, they should walk out with the titles.
Breezango vs. an unknown tag team
Prediction: the mystery attackers of Breezango may turn out to be the team of Sanity from NXT or the returning alliance of Luke Harper & Eric Rowan. The surprise guests are expected to win this bout.
Sami Zayn vs. Mike Kanellis
Prediction: The rematch from Smackdown has been added to the Battleground card in order to keep the momentum ongoing in favour of the Kanellis family. Mike will win by outside interferences from Maria, quite easily.
AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens (United States Championship)
Prediction: There’s no way that AJ Styles is going to lose the US title to Owens after this contest. The creative has some bigger planning with Styles and the prestigious title. So, he will continue his run by defeating the prizefighter in a thrilling contest.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin
Prediction: Baron Corbin has the Money in the Bank briefcase and does not need a desperate win at Battleground. Rather, Nakamura will seek his redemption against the Lone Wolf and secure a big match at the Summerslam PPV.
Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Lana (fatal-5-way elimination match)
Prediction: Charlotte Flair is still the favourite to emerge as the winner considering that the creative intends to keep the best contest in store for Summerslam. So, Naomi vs. Charlotte will be confirmed at the Battleground event.
John Cena vs. Rusev (Flag match)
Prediction: Rusev needs a big victory at this stage of his career and he is likely to pick up one in this contest by pulling off the flag from the corner. That will not stop John Cena from getting a marquee match at Summerslam since he would neither be pinned nor be submitted.
Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton (WWE Championship Punjabi Prison match)
Prediction: The chances are fewer that Orton will dethrone Jinder and become a 14-time WWE Champion at Battleground. Rather, the stipulation of just escaping the cage is likely to favor Jinder since the Singh Brothers will be in his corner. So, the champion is expected to retain.
