A number one contender’s match for the WWE Championship match was the headliner for last night’s Smackdown Live. But, apart from that matchup, another huge title match was set for the episode, too. Last week, a fatal-four-way match was hosted for the contender’s spot for the United States title.
To the much delight of the WWE Universe, Rusev turned out to be the winner. At this point, this man is a hot favourite around the company with the Rusev Day gimmick.
The merchandise selling is an all-time high for him which was a big indication of an upcoming push.

So, after a long time, the Bulgarian Brute received a singles championship shot against Bobby Roode. This was a good idea from the officials to revamp his career with the title that he made prestigious, at one point. With that being said, the match took place on last night’s Smackdown Live.
It turned out to be back and forth contest with both the competitors bringing out the very best out of each other. The crowd was thunderous chanting “Rusev Day” while beginning the match. Roode countered these chants by doing his Glorious pose. But, Rusev continued to have the momentum by his side by putting Roode with shoulder blocks.

Later, Rusev was able to connect with a big superkick on Roode which almost guaranteed him the pinfall win. But, Roode was able to kick out of that much to the disbelief of the challenger.
Aftermath, Aiden English tried to provide the distraction to the champion. Rusev took advantage of this delivering yet another kick and went to lock in the Accolade.

But the Glorious One found his way back into the match countering the move and connecting with the Glorious DDT. This earned him the pinfall win as he retained the title.
The reigning champion celebrated in his trademark pose when Randy Orton appeared, out of nowhere hitting an RKO to him. He did not spare Aiden English and Rusev, too as they suffered the same consequence, too.
This indicated that The Viper might be coming after the US title, soon.
