It was earlier confirmed that the WWE Championship match will take place at the Backlash PPV. It is going to be the main event from Smackdown Live. AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will battle it out delivering the third installment in their benchmark feud.

Last night, the capacity of the match was changed which was highly anticipated.

Ever since Wrestlemania 34, the complexity of this rivalry changed due to the heel turn of Nakamura. The Artist that we have known, so far changed his character, completely and became a supervillain, all of a sudden.

Starting from the biggest event of the year until now, there was not a single televised show where he did not hit a low blow to the champion.

At the bygone Greatest Royal Rumble PPV event, the same consequence happened when the referee was not watching.

AJ Styles was able to seek redemption by hitting Nakamura with chair shots after which the match got disqualified. So, there was only one way to settle this at Backlash.

Hence, the Smackdown general manager, Paige addressed the situation while the show was getting started, last night.

She declared that at Backlash, the WWE Championship will become a No Disqualification match. It means both of them can do absolutely anything to each other to win the prime championship in the sports entertainment.

Check out WWE.com confirming the same with the following statements,

“SmackDown General Manager Paige later declared that both Superstars went beyond the bounds of good sportsmanship in Saudi Arabia, and said that there must be a clean winner at WWE Backlash before making the bout a No Disqualification Match.

The intense rivalry between WWE Champion AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura is destined to reach a fever pitch when the two Superstars once again square off for the WWE Title in a No Disqualification Match at WWE Backlash.”

There’s no need to say that Nakamura will try to capitalize using this environment where his low blows can be most effective.

In fact, these heel plans make him the favorite to win the WWE Championship at Backlash PPV from the ‘face that runs the place.’

For months, the fans anticipated as of when we’d see the former NXT Champion hold the prime title in the WWE and the right time is now.

Moreover, the officials finally made someone to the level of Styles who is running the show for the last few years.
