It was the two bitter rivals of the WWE who fought over the Smackdown Women’s Championship at the Clash of Champions PPV. Charlotte Flair defended the title against the former champion, Natalya for the umptieth time in her career. It was a rematch after Charlotte Flair snatched the title away from Nattie just before Survivor Series.
Now, it is certain that the fans would not appreciate this particular feud going on and on over the championship. Even, the superstars from the locker room complained regarding the same to the general manager, Daniel Bryan. So, he came up with a perfect solution with this contest.

The match was converted into a Lumberjack match where each member from the Smackdown women’s division was allowed to be present at the ringside area. Also, the rules of this particular match allow the outsiders to put their hands on the competitors. It meant that they could make their presence felt, altering the outcome.

Potentially, it was a great opportunity for Miss Money in the Bank, Carmella to cash in her contract and walk out as the new champion. The opportunity even occurred at a point when she tried to capitalise. However, the Riott Squad barred her from doing so and she changed her mind, later.

Natalya tried to capitalise on this distraction by locking in the Sharpshooter. However, Charlotte reversed it into a Figure-eight lock to force her opponent to tap out. The champion retained the title at Clash of Champions.
Following the match, Nattie cut a heel promo on the crowd and teased her exit from in-ring capacity while the crowd chanted the farewell song to her. More in this will get clarified in next episode of Smackdown Live.
