Halloween Havoc is coming back to WWE. Last night, NXT TakeOver: 31 was moving along when the important announcement was dropped. After the second match of the show, the grand return of an old-school event was mentioned. Thus, it will be the second time, this year that NXT will be presenting one such show.
Halloween Havoc – WWE Confirms Return Of Old School Show
WWE played a commercial during TakeOver 31 which started with Shotzi Blackheart howling at the moon. Then the big confirmation was made on behalf of the black and gold brand as they are bringing Halloween Havoc on October 28th. Blackheart is likely to be the host of the evening that goes down three days prior to the actual Halloween of this year.
Toni Storm – Ember Moon Returned At WWE NXT TakeOver 31
The company owns the Halloween Havoc trademark along with other properties as they battled for the same starting from late 2018. It was a popular thematic show from the 90s and it’s indeed good to see WWE finally using this old intellectual property. As of last night, no matches have been announced for the show that will take place within four weeks of time.
WWE NXT TakeOver 31: Finn Balor Rushed To Hospital After Main Event
As previously mentioned, WWE earlier hosted the NXT TakeOver In Your House event, back in May at the empty Performance Center with only the NXT talents serving as the audience. This was a reincarnation of the In Your House PPV traditions from the 90s. The same will be the case for Halloween Havoc that is making his way back to WWE Programming after almost 20 years. Rumors were rife about this particular show after WWE won the trademark.
Halloween Havoc used to be a professional wrestling event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment then known as World Wrestling Federation. It was an original show produced on pay-per-view (PPV) by the National Wrestling Alliance’s (NWA) World Championship Wrestling (WCW), from 1989 through 2000. Now, WWE NXT is hosting it in 2020 but not as a PPV. Rather the theme will be applied during a regular Wednesday night show.
Mainly, WCW stars made their name in Halloween Havoc, namely Ric Flair, Sting, or Hulk Hogan. The opening edition of the show back in 1989 witnessed a massive main event – Ric Flair and Sting vs. The Great Muta and Terry Funk in a Thunderdome match with Bruno Sammartino as special guest referee. The last edition in 2000 witnessed a main event match of Goldberg vs. KroniK (Brian Adams and Bryan Clark) in a Handicap elimination match.
