AJ Styles is the reigning WWE Champion for over seven months now. And his reign began in the month of November 2017 when he defeated Jinder Mahal.

So, it eventually happened prior to the Survivor Series PPV event ending another long reign that continued over 150 days. Styles’ reign has now gone way better than the previous one.

Currently, the phenomenal one stands at the 16th spot when it comes to counting the list of WWE Champions with longest days of reign. He could surpass John Cena and JBL in time for Summerslam which marks the next title defence.

Currently, the Smackdown officials are in search of a new contender for him at Summerslam.

At Extreme Rules PPV event, Styles had a successful defense against Rusev. For the first time ever, the Bulgarian Brute got a championship opportunity. But he could topple ‘the face that runs the place’ from his coveted spot.

So, another new challenger will wait for him in the upcoming days.

The Smackdown general manager has already announced about the same on the last week’s episode. She will address the WWE Championship situation in the upcoming show on this Tuesday Night.

Moreover, we expect to see a new contender courtesy of the main event match. The winner will challenge AJ Styles at Summerslam.

Cagesideseats.com gave hints on the potential planning of the title scenario. As per their report, the reigning champion is ‘pencilled into a face, and defeat, Samoa Joe at SummerSlam’.

And it means that the former NXT Champion is coming after the prime title in the WWE for the first time ever. He’s never been in a WWE title match, before this.

Advertisements for the Hell in a Cell PPV are already out those are showing AJ Styles versus Joe in the main event match.

The speculations are that it might be a rematch between these two after the title changes hands at Summerslam. But the source has wiped out the chances of the happening.

So. the WWE Championship will remain at home even after the biggest party of the summer as we prepare to see one of the dream feuds in the WWE.

Back in their TNA days, these two veterans delivered some solid matches. So the expectations are pretty high around the upcoming rivalry.
