WWE: Daniel Bryan’s reaction about Roman Reigns replacing John Cena

It’s now official that Roman Reigns is the new franchise player of the WWE since he has won the inevitable match against John Cena at No Mercy. The match was considered to be a “passing the torch” match.

We have always seen these sort of matches where the former franchise player passes the baton to the newer guy. This time around, the result was no different since The Big Dog defeated The Cenation Leader at No Mercy to earn the spot.

Now, since day one that Reigns have walked into the company, he was meant to be the top guy in the promotion.

Vince McMahon always treated him like the special performer that he is and gave him all the opportunities, as needed.

This was definitely not liked by the WWE Universe since the three-time WWE Champion was never the best choice for them.

Plus, when he was rising upwards at the food chain of the roster, there were guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan who were considered to be the most popular performers in the company.

So, the fans could not accept the fact that someone new would simply take away their spotlight.

In recent times, Daniel Bryan has revealed his reaction after hearing that Roman Reigns is going to be the next top guy in the promotion.

It was just a few days prior to the Wrestlemania 30 event where the current Smackdown GM won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when Bryan had a sit-down with Vince McMahon.

While giving an interview with the Edge and Christian podcast, Bryan stated the following, (courtesy stillrealtous.com)

“You know, we really want to push Roman to be the next John Cena” Vince said.

“Boss, I one hundred percent support that, but I just want you to know that I want to be the next John Cena,” Daniel Bryan replied. “I’m the man. I want you to push me.”

“To be honest with you sir, that’s great that you want that for him,” Bryan told Vince.

“I want to be the next John Cena, and I’m going to push myself to be that person.”

At that point in 2014, WWE Universe backed up Daniel Bryan to be the headliner superstar who could replace John Cena.

But, the leader of the Yes-Nation dealt with several concussions just after he started to receive a push on the roster.

Ultimately, the injuries cut short his WWE wrestling career.
