Heading into WWE Day 1, rumors were flying high about a possible return by WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. It indeed happened at the PPV night as the veteran female superstar came out and helped her husband Edge out to clinch a win over The Miz in their scheduled match.
The inaugural WWE Day 1 pay-per-view saw The Miz take on WWE Hall of Famer Edge in a singles contest. Maryse was at ringside for the bout as she was distracting Edge, favoring The Miz. There was a point when Maryse slapped Edge in the face. This led to Phoenix making her return, coming out to the entranceway with a brand new look. Phoenix stared Maryse down and then started chasing her around the ring.

It then proceeded to the finishing sequence of this WWE Day 1 match as Maryse retreated through the ramp which led Phoenix to stare at The Miz in the ring. Miz was already frustrated as Edge kicked out of the Skull Crushing finale move, earlier in the match.
Then Phoenix had some conversation with Miz which distracted him from the match. This allowed Edge to finish Miz off with a Spear for the pin to win. The segment ended with Maryse and The Miz looking on from the stage as Beth and Edge posed together in the ring.

Miz vs. Edge feud might continue after WWE Day 1
The ongoing feud between these two couples may just continue even after WWE Day 1 PPV, going by the speculations. Miz might just complain about getting distracted by Phoenix during the match which could lead to the rematch. It’s also been speculated that the feud between Edge and The Miz will eventually lead to a mixed tag team match with Phoenix and Maryse getting involved, but there’s no update on when that match will take place.

It should be noted that Phoenix left her WWE NXT commentary duty back in early December, following the WarGames event. Storyline-wise, she announced that she was stepping away from her NXT duties so that she can spend time with her family. But in reality, she might be coming back to action after this return at WWE Day 1.
