WWE Day 1
Edge

WWE Day 1 is setting up to be a stacked night in history as the company promises to have a great start to 2022. Now, the WWE Hall of Famer Edge has been added to the card of the PPV as he takes on The Miz in a singles contest following last night’s Raw from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

The new feud between The A-Lister and The Rated R Superstar kicked off last week from a brand new venue UBS Arena in Long Island, New York as both the superstars returned to the red brand for an in-ring confrontation.

The Miz then invited Edge to MizTV on this week’s RAW to have another heated confrontation over the mic. The Miz then wrongly uttered the name of the next WWE pay-per-view and challenged Edge to a match on “January 1.” Edge accepted the challenge to make the match official at WWE Day 1 and ended the segment by punching The Miz in the mouth.

Edge vs. Miz will be a rematch at WWE Day 1

WWE Day 1 will be the fourth singles encounter between these two former WWE Champions but their first pay-per-view bout. Edge defeated The Miz on their previous three meetings, on the February 26, 2010 edition of SmackDown, the January 24, 2011 edition of RAW, and the January 31, 2011 edition of RAW.

While Edge vs. The Miz has been made official, chances are high that it could be converted into a mixed tag team contest. Maryse is reportedly back to the WWE. PWInsider noted how his appearance with Miz from last week wasn’t a one-off. Plus, Beth Phoenix has also wrapped up her schedule with NXT as she’s now expected to join her husband for this upcoming mixed tag match that’s yet to be confirmed.
